Although there are private schools and boarding schools that almost everyone who applied to accept, but the best have a selection process. This contains a couple of High School Entrance Exams: High School Admissions Test (SSAT) and Independent school entrance exam (ISEE). The best that the child, this test, the more likely to be adopted at the Academy. Both tests are similar in that they measure the skills of students in key academic skills (math, English, reading, etc..) However, each has subtle differences.

ISEE and SSAT used by most independent schools and boarding schools in the admission process (the GPA, transcripts, recommendations, etc..) The Princeton Review can help you prepare for the SSAT and ISEE at various locations in North America and abroad. More information about our class SSAT ISEE / SSAT and ISEE tutoring programs.

The SSAT

If you are applying for a boarding or military school for your child, it is likely that he or she will need to take the SSAT. Some private schools also needed. The exam is held every month, one day, between November and April and once in June, there are many places where the examination is offered in most regions of Canada and USA.

The test consists of a writing sample and four multiple-choice fields. These areas are designed to give the student verbal, reading and quantitative skills test. Example of writing tests students the opportunity to express his thoughts and knowledge in a practical way. The child is 155 minutes for the entire investigation is complete.

The questions were as follows: Department of quantitative (mathematical) has 25 questions. The student should be able to finish in 30 minutes or less. The report has 60 questions testing knowledge of the vocabulary of the student. The student has 30 minutes. The Reading section has 40 questions about the ability of the child to read and understand short selections. He / she will have 40 minutes to complete the section. To test the student is 25 minutes.

ISEE

The ISEE test You are a child may be asked to take if you are looking to enroll in a private environment or a secondary school that is not residential in nature. It is given on Saturday by several fall winter, and like the SSAT, which is offered in all regions in North America.

The student is entitled to three hours before the exam, which consists of four sections, all multiple choice. The sections are verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, quantitative reasoning and testing.

There are 40 questions in verbal section, in which the student knowledge of vocabulary and phrases appropriate tests. Twenty minutes are allocated for the section. Reading has 40 questions that test the student is able to understand short reading passages. He / she has 40 minutes. The quantitative reasoning / mathematics performance has a total of 80 questions on general mathematical concepts and comparing data. It is allowed 75 minutes. And the test must be completed in 30 minutes.

Preparation for Test Day

Smart parents will require their children to either the ISEE or SSAT preparation for the day of the event. This will help the cobwebs from the mind of the child on the concepts he or she has not occasionally used. More importantly, it allows them to know what to expect on the test, so they do not freeze in the middle of it. Preparation of testing experts recommend that at least three samples taken before the real one. Also, tell your child that he or she has no idea what the answer is to let white (two tests penalized for wrong answers). However, help them to see how well they are the options limited to one or two correct answers. If the tests show that they are of good practices in the process of narrowing down, encourage them to continue and if they can safely have two or more recommended options.

You’re facing a landmark test that could shape your future. Whether its SAT prep, GRE prep, ACT prep or any kind of examination, you know test preparation is key. You want to excel. It’s just a matter of getting down to it. So why is getting stuck in to test preparation often so tough? How do you enter that test prep headspace?

Step 1. Committing to a start date for your test preparations is the foundation step. Review your materials to see how much time is required for your test prep.

Step 2. Make a rough test prep timetable. Your test preparation efforts are wasted if you miscalculate and end up only having time to revise half the syllabus. A test preparation schedule, with clear goals will help you feel you’re achieving something.

Step 3. Gather your test prep materials: textbooks, notes, handouts and any other test preparation accessories. Being organized helps you feel in control of the test prep process.

Step 4. Devise a test prep system that suits you and your subject matter. That might be (a) reading it over; (b) summarising key points on cards; (c) working through sample questions; (d) checking for knowledge gaps. Atest preparation system means you won’t waste time deciding what to do next and how and when to do it. Structured variation in your test prep will help relieve the tedium.

Step 5. Find a comfortable study place with minimal distractions before you start your test prep. A good workspace helps with the headspace required for efficient test preparation.

Step 6. Grit your teeth and go! This is the hard part of test preparation but there are ways to keep yourself moving forward.

Test Prep and Self-Motivation

Keep your eye on the ball. Think of test preparation as more than an ordeal and the prizes effective test preparation brings.

Don’t make test prep into an ordeal. Work for an hour or so and then refresh yourself with a break. When you’ve done your daily test preparation give yourself a present and congratulations.

Review your test prep progress regularly. Test prep can seem endless and you will be encouraged if you can see you are actually moving forward.

While immersed in test preparations, find the time to take pleasure in the most interesting aspects of your subject. It will help you past the dull bits.

Additional Measures For Effective Test Preparation

Whatever test you’re facing, test prep requires you to mobilize inner resources. But everyone flags. Outside assistance can get you past test prep obstacles. Study buddies can help with test preparation but may be a distraction. Tutoring, online or face-to-face, can serve several purposes when test preparation gets you down.

A test prep tutor can make sure you’re covering all the content and understand it properly.

A good test preparation tutor should also boost your enthusiasm for the subject.

A tutor will help you stick to a realistic test preparation schedule. When your resolve is flagging then having to meet externally imposed requirements before meeting a test prep tutor can provide that extra bit of motivation.

Reassurance that your test preparations will bear fruit can help you avoid panic as the day approaches.

Whatever test you’re facing – SAT, ACT, GRE or standard examinations – it’s manageable with proper test prep planning. Know your weaknesses and design your test prep strategy accordingly. It can hugely improve your test preparation experience.

45 minutes quantitative reasoning section in GRE test contains 28 questions measuring the following abilities:

Your mastery of arithmetic

Your ability to solve algebraic equations and applying simple functions

Your ability to verbal information into mathematical terms

Your ability to geometric forms and numerical relationships to visualize

Your ability to design solutions, intuitive and non-conventional or conventional mathematical problems

You will perform simple calculations on many questions. But you do not have to do many calculations, this is not what you tested.

Here is a list of specific areas of the quantitative reasoning section. The number of questions included for each region are approximate.

Properties of numbers and arithmetic operations

Linear control (positive and negative numbers, in absolute value)

Properties of integers (factors, multiples, primes)

Arithmetic operations

The laws of arithmetic

Fractions, decimals and percentages

Ratio and proportion

Exhibitors (powers) and roots

Base of probability, permutations and combination

Algebraic equations and inequalities

Simplification of algebraic expressions and linear quadratic

Solving linear equations with one or two variables

The application of simple algebraic functions

Cylinders

Coordinate Geometry

Interpretation of the statistical data presented in graphical form

Pie charts

Tables

Bar graphs

Online tickets

Other forms of graphic displays

You can assume the following on all matters of quantitative reasoning, you will see on the GRE:
All numbers are real numbers
All figures are on a plan, unless otherwise
All straight lines are shown as right. (Some may seem a little “irregular” on the computer, but they must be treated right.)

Some issues are “issues of history, which means that the problem is presented in a real world. Some questions will also be accompanied by the geometry

figures, which may or may not be drawn to scale. GRE geometry figures are intended to be used exclusively for digital information they provide and not on actual measurements.

Each question quantitative reasoning one of two basic formats to corroborate the quantitative comparison and troubleshooting. One of the above topics can be presented in two formats.

The computer-based GRE General Test is a study focused on verbal skills, quantitative and analytical writing measure. High GRE scores strongly correlated with the chances of success in higher education: the more you score, the greater your chance for your graduate to complete. For this reason, many graduates and professional schools require applicants to the GRE General Test, a test that now appear on your computer to take over. (They may also require you to take a GRE subject in your perticular field. Subject Tests are currently available in 14 areas.)

The computer-based GRE General Test will have three or four parts. There will always be there.

a section of 30 oral questions (30 minutes)

a 28-question Quantitative section (45 minutes)

an analytical writing section is divided into two tasks (75 minutes)

In addition, there are an unidentified experimental section, which was half verbal or quantitative section. Sometimes there Research Division, identified option. The verbal section measures your ability to use words as a tool in the argument, you’re tested not only the size of your vocabulary, but your ability to distinguish the relationships, both within

2. Why you should know about the GRE

written passages and between different groups of words. The quantitative section measures your ability to use and reason with numbers and mathematical concepts, you will not be tested on advanced mathematical theories, but on general concepts that should be part of the academic background of each are. The analytical writing section measures your ability to sound assessments about pets, relationships, fiction and present your point of view of logic, a question

There are four key points you should be aware of
1. In each section of multiple choice, before they can from one to the other question, you answer the question currently on the screen.
2. After you have clicked on an answer and confirm your choice, you can not return to this issue and change your answer.
3. Not every question is worth the same number of drinks, the more difficult questions worth more easily.
4. GRE General Test is not to punish you for wrong answers. If you do not know an answer, try an appointment as education QUES eliminate obvious wrong choices, if you can not solve all of the choices, make an offer and wanted to go.

Keep these points in mind as you learn more about what’s on the test computer-based GRE.

The LSAT is required by 201 American and Canadian law schools that are members of the Law School Admission Council and is an important criterion for admission. Every year thousands of applicants submit LSAT results, and other undergraduate records in the context of the school admissions process is very competitive right.

Each school has its own right formula for evaluating the candidates and all ranks LSAT weighed differently. In general, it is crucial to a LSAT high score to achieve a good chance of admission. This is especially important if you are applying for public school prestige. In some schools can receive up to a LSAT score twice as important as your undergraduate degree.

The LSAT is administered by the Law School Admission Council, a private nonprofit based in Newtown, Pa., the LSAT is offered four times a year - in October, December, February and June, many law school applicants in December LSAT take years for admission the following fall. Although the test earlier - in June or October - would be well advised.

Format of the LAST

The Law School Admissions Test assesses verbal ability and logical reasoning and analytical skills and writing skills, which are all skills that are found to contribute to the successful study of law schools. The test no prior knowledge of facts or data specific to one area of study.

Six different sections make up the LSAT. The sections consist of multiple choice questions to test different skills. The number of questions per section varies each year.

The order of the points of the LSAT seems to vary from one test administration. Only writing sample is consistent, always the last to appear. In other words, you can test one day, and the sections in that order.

Logical reasoning, analytical thinking, Trial Division, logical reasoning, reading comprehension and writing sample.

You can test, but the items ordered in this way can be found:

Analytical thinking, reading comprehension, logical reasoning, logical reasoning, Trial Division and the writing sample.

The section may appear in a number of combinations, but the writing sample will always last.

Total scored questions - vary, but range up to 101
Total test time - 205 minutes (just under 3.5 hours)
Total Trial Division issues depends on which of the multiple-choice section is repeated.
Scored mean count towards your LSAT score.

Reading comprehension - a concept part of 35 minutes 26-28 questions based on reading passages of short duration.

Logical Reasoning - a 35 - minute section 24-26 of inference questions based on passages mini-lecture.

Logical Reasoning - a 35 - minute section 24-26 of inference questions based on passages mini-lecture.

Analytical Reasoning - 35 minutes a mind teaser type questions section 22-24

Trial Division - one unscored experimental section of the recurrence of a multiple choice question sections. The distribution process is not identified and do not count toward your score, since the objective is to test new questions for use in future exams.

writing samples - a test of 30 minutes on an assigned topic.

You might wonder how your SAT Reasoning Test score is calculated. It seems a bit hard to understand at first, but later you will realize how easy it is to process and test results. It is simply the easiest and just two results: the raw score and scale score.

The first to be calculated is the gross score of the student. This is actually the number of points you earned in the test, based on the number of correctly answered questions that you, minus a fraction of the number of questions you wrong.

The problems are ignored or left blank are not counted. Computers for the raw score is almost identical to score a “right Less wrong “kind of research. Each correct answer is worth 1 point for each wrong answer on a multiple choice question, 1 / 4 point is subtracted from the total points.

The score scale for each test section was, on the other hand, is reported on a scale of 2-800. It is obtained by converting a raw score by a statistical process called assimilation. This will lead to comparisons between test takers.

On the other hand, the department has also written two sub scores: one for the multiple-choice written test (reported in a 20-to-80 scale) and the other is the test of 25 minutes (on a scale from 2 to 12). The part of the dissertation is written exam independently scored by two readers 1 to 6 points each. The two scores of these two disks are combined into the 2-to-12 scale production. Still confused? Students can consult the website of the College Board for more information about the SAT score.

Nice to know about SAT scores

The most exciting part of the SAT Reasoning is not just about choosing the correct answer to each test question, but if you passed the test or not. This is because the SAT score is one of the decisive factors that most schools used in the admission of first year students. If you score high enough Sat, that means you have great chances of being admitted to the college or university of your choice. Here are some good things about the test results do Sat

The SAT Reasoning Test results can be checked online and by email. Students receive their transcript usually about three weeks after the test online, while the scores of paper are generally done within six weeks. Each of the three sections of the SAT is graded on a scale of 2-800 with two sub-scores for the writing section (score editing and multiple-choice sub score). This means that the minimum test score that a student can get is 600 and a maximum score of 2.400. In addition to SAT scores, students will get their raw scores and percentile.

The raw score is calculated based on the number of questions answered correctly that you are incorrect or left blank. Percentile, on the other hand, is based on the percentage of total Sat buyers who got a lower score than you. For an additional fee, students may obtain a copy of the question and answers. What is the reference for the student that his answers will be posted against the correct answers to each test question.
