Preparations for Mathematics Portion of the SAT or ACT

When you are ready to take the SAT or ACT soon, you’re probably trying to study, to improve your score. But how exactly do your math scores improve at this point? Let’s see.

The mathematics sections of the SAT and SAT are designed to arithmetic skills you should have learned by the end of your junior year in high school to measure. It provides the College with an objective method to the level that you can be expected to carry out evaluation, regardless of what courses you took in school.

The math questions are multiple choice. Not be misled into thinking this will simply ask. If you do not understand the mathematical concepts and formulas involved in the questions, you’re probably going to miss most of them.

A standardized math test requires you to use your reasoning to solve practical mathematical problems. You will be allowed to use a calculator for some of the problems. So one important thing you can do in the study is to learn how to use your calculator to the nature of the questions are allowed.

Even knowing the basic mathematical formulas is a must. You should also study a few hours of memorizing these formulas and the practice of real problems to see if you can use the formulas.

It’s also smart to at least finish a practice test a few weeks before the date of the test. This will show you where you are a bit weak and hopefully to develop a strategy for studying in those areas. For example, if the practical test you missed a number of questions regarding the calculation of the diameter, then you know that this is a formula that can not truly master.

During your study time, practice a lot with solving word problems. Many people who do badly on the math test because they do not have to learn mathematical concepts and formulas applicable to real-life word problems.

Finally, trying even in areas where the calculator is permitted, without solving the problem. Some students feel that they are actually using it slows down. If you’re one of those, and you can do the calculations without it, you better be served without the calculator.

Studying for the math portion of your college entrance exam will never fun or easy. But it’s good to do if you just adopt some of these strategies.

How to prepare for SAT Practice test?

Basically SAT is Scholastic Assessment Test developed and conducted by College Board. The SAT exam is usually taken by high school juniors and seniors. It is given seven times a year in the U.S.

Studying for the SAT is a long-term process that should begin in a student’s sophomore year when they take the PSAT. Not only does this make them automatically eligible for National Merit Scholar, but it gives a valuable score report showing strengths, weaknesses, and projected scores. From here, decide what you need to work on.

Keep taking practice tests as you get closer to your SAT test date. The SAT, remember, is standardized, so you will see the same questions on the real thing. Before you take SAT practice tests, ensure that you have reviewed all provided SAT practice questions.

For the Critical Reading sections, you’ll need time to read the passages before you answer; depending on your reading speed, you should have about 30 seconds to answer each question. For the essay, you have 25 minutes to read the prompt, draft an outline, and write it all out.

Once you know your strengths and weaknesses, it becomes very easy to focus your studying. There are not many different types of questions on the SAT, so this type of in-depth is incredibly effective. For example, you may be good at math, but not very good with geometry formulas. It is much easier to study these narrow subjects. Simply Bing or Google geometry formulas and you can find the help you need.

For a few months, work just on vocabulary. It will help on both the critical reading sections and the Essay in the writing section. If you need help in a particular category, take quizzes only on that topic. One common area for improvement is reading comprehension and passage analysis. You can find these tests all over the internet.  And seeing your determination may help later when you have an 89.9% and they’re choosing between giving you an A or a B in the class.

Practice tests may be long and boring, but if they’re free and get you into the college of your choice, they are completely worth it.

The Process of Deriving SAT Test Scores

You might wonder how your SAT Reasoning Test score is calculated. It seems a bit hard to understand at first, but later you will realize how easy it is to process and test results. It is simply the easiest and just two results: the raw score and scale score.

The first to be calculated is the gross score of the student. This is actually the number of points you earned in the test, based on the number of correctly answered questions that you, minus a fraction of the number of questions you wrong.
